Ottosson Graphite is a Specialized Coating for Metal Applications
Ottosson
Linseed Oil Paint from Sweden
#LFGRA192 Graphite Grey is not a typical Linseed Oil Paint. It is used for both specialty exterior metal applications and high-heat exposed metal surfaces. Preserves metal and allows the surface to breath. Does not crack or peel like many modern coatings and prevents rust, as well as material degradation.
Graphite Grey Linseed Oil Paint contains the same graphite used in your reliable No. 2 pencil and is a traditional coating used extensively for demanding exterior metal surfaces, such as roofs, gutters, farming equipment, industrial structures, etc. before modern epoxy coatings and other petrochemical oil coatings became available.
For such applications, apply Graphite as a top-coat after the Iron Oxide Minium "primer".
It can also be used as a stove-blacking for metal exposed to high-heat such as cast iron stoves for example. No primer is used in this case. Apply the graphite directly onto metal and let dry fully before exposing to heat. Other pigments will not hold-up in high temperatures.
Note:
- Graphite Grey should not be applied on high-traffic areas or surfaces that will be touched or sat upon as it can easily leave marks or rub off.

Note When Comparing Price: Please be aware
that Ottosson linseed paint is 100% dry weight. Nothing evaporates
when you paint. The paint covers twice the surface compared to conventional
petroleum acrylic paint.
Coverage: The coverage of Ottosson Graphite is about twice
that of any acrylic paint. Apply thin coats. Linseed oil paint goes
a long way. Use a short stiff natural bristle brush. Our hand made
Swedish natural paint brushes work
very well with Linseed oil paint.
1 Liter (1.05 quart)- 110 - 160 Square ft
3 Liter (.85 gallon)- 330 - 480 square ft
When to paint: Paint in 60 degree ambient temperature or
warmer. Cold temperatures will slow the drying time. Indoors, make
sure you ventilate well. Ottosson Graphite will cure faster with
ample air circulation.
Process:Remove as much rust as possible. The metal surface does not be completely free of rust. Apply Ottosson Graphite onto a fully dry coat of Iron Oxide Minum “primer” or onto dry, bare high-heat exposed metal. Two to three thin, even coats are optimal for long lasting protection. Let dry fully before exposing the Graphite to heat. If surface rust starts to develop over time, clean the surface with linseed oil soap and apply another coat.
