Varnishing a wooden boat can require two applications per season when you use
regular petroleum based varnish (i.e.: Siikens, Awgrip,
Interlux,Spar varnish etc.) All marine varnish products
from a marine store is made from petroleum in one form or
another unless clearly marked organic, made from purified
organic linseed oil without chemical dryers and herbicide.
To avoid the massive labor of varnishing every year and
having to repair rot on your wooden boat you can use organic
linseed oil and organic
linseed oil varnish. Maintenance is simple and inexpensive.
Clean the surface with our organic
linseed oil soap. Apply the linseed oil soap directly
onto the surface. Activate the soap with a small amount
of water. Scrub with a stiff decks brush. Rinse and allow
it to dry before you apply any of the organic linseed oil
products.
The organic linseed oil varnish last for at least 3-4 years
and will only require an extra coat to maintain the surface.
Linseed oil varnish is absorbed by the wood over time therefore
you never need to remove anything from the wood surface
to maintain. Having to remove failed varnish means you will
always have to remove the petroleum based varnish that builds
up on the surface. This is not the case with our linseed
oil products. Organic linseed oil and varnish will save
your old wooden boat while reducing the maintenance over
time.
