A few helpful hints for
the Silent Paint Remover:

Glass IR Tubes:

Remember to handle the Silent Paint Remover with care. If you tip the tool over there is a good chance the IR Tubes will shatter. It is a good idea to create a system that holds the SPR for you.  (Or look into one of our Hands Free devices).  Also for best results, try to use the SPR horizontally for 2 weeks (this will give the IR tubes a chance to break in properly). Remember to keep those tubes clean! (See page 9 in your manual).

Use Sharp ‘Pull Scrapers’:
Pull scrapers are much more effective because you use both hands to get better leverage. Push scrapers & putty knives are not as effective. Scrape with the grain of the wood.

The Advantages of ‘Pull Scrapers':
You get much better leverage with these types of scrapers. Position the scraper handle parallel to the painted surface or closer. Grip one hand on the rear of the scraper handle and apply pressure with your other hand close to the blade. Holding the scraper with only one hand is not as effective.

About keeping your scraper blades sharp:
You will be much more productive if you keep your scraper blades sharp when removing paint with the Silent Paint Remover. You can sharpen the blades yourself with a slow speed grinder or a wet wheel. Avoid 3400 RPM grinders that will heat the steel up too much and remove the hardening.
