Surface Prep with Linseed Oil Soap

Always apply a finish, modern or traditional upon a clean, dry surface.

Linseed Oil Soap is an ideal cleaning agent as it is a simple formulation that does not introduce other properties to the surface, especially onto a porous wood surface.​

​

Most soap and cleaning products are complex petrochemical formulations that can cause interaction issues or impact the longevity of the traditional coatings.

Cleaning Suggestions:

  •  Scrub old, dirty wood to remove dirty, dust, organic growth, loose particulate, etc.

  • Rinse well to remove any soap residue.

​

  • Let dry fully before applying a traditional coating.

​

  • New wood generally should require cleaning unless visibly dirty or covered in mildew/mold. If so, follow the suggestions above.​​
