Linseed Oil Paint on Previously Painted Surfaces
Linseed oil paint has excellent ability to adhere to all surface
except oily and very smooth surfaces. If using any organic raw linseed
oil as a base coat, make sure this coat is completely absorbed into
the grain of the wood before applying the linseed oil paint.
Avoid all tack cloths from a local paint store as it may contain
silicone. Dust spray may also contain silicone as well that can
compromise adhesion with linseed oil paint.
As an exception, applying linseed oil paint on very thick layers
of latex paint can cause linseed oil paint to crackle over time.
